~ Counselling with Horses ~
Welcome, to a transformative journey where vulnerability becomes our greatest strength and connection with the wisdom of horses illuminates the path to healing. In these equine assisted counselling sessions, we embark on a courageous exploration of the human experience, guided by the principles of empathy, courage, and wholehearted living. Led by experienced therapists, these sessions offer a safe and nurturing space to delve deep into the heart of our stories. With the loving support of our horses, we embrace the power of owning our truths and step into our vulnerability with courage and compassion. Horses, with their keen intuition and unwavering presence, serve as guides and companions, inviting us to shed the armor of protection and embrace the fullness of our authentic selves. Through experiential exercises, mindfulness practices, and reflective dialogue, we learn to listen to the wisdom of our bodies, honor our emotions, and cultivate deeper connections with ourselves and others. Whether you're navigating life transitions, healing from past trauma, or seeking clarity and direction, these counselling sessions offer a holistic approach to growth and transformation. Together, we embark on a courageous voyage of self-discovery, where vulnerability becomes the gateway to resilience, and connection becomes the cornerstone of healing. ~ Fear 'Less' Riding for the Competitive Rider ~
Equestrianism, much like any other sport, comes with its own set of challenges and risks. As riders, we form deep connections with our horses, and when accidents occur, the emotional toll can be profound. This is what we refer to as equestrian trauma. Whether it's a fall, a spooked horse, or any other mishap in the ring or on the trail, these experiences can leave lasting scars, not just physically but emotionally as well. In navigating equestrian trauma, sports psychology and counselling play vital roles. Understanding the mental aspects of our sport is just as crucial as mastering the physical skills. As an equestrian community, we must recognize the importance of mental resilience and seek support when needed. Counselling provides a safe space to process our experiences, confront our fears, and develop coping strategies. With the guidance of a registered clinical counsellor who is also an Equestrian Canada Coach, we can work through our blocks/barriers and emerge stronger, both in and out of the saddle. Navigating Equestrian Trauma with Understanding
Although you may have confided in your loved ones about your horse-related accident, they may not grasp its full impact since they're not part of the horse industry. While their comfort and love are appreciated, it can sometimes feel invalidating if they don't fully acknowledge the severity of your experience. This sport instills toughness and you may not find solace in the words of fellow riders. If you're fortunate to have a barn mate who understands, sharing your story with them can help you regain confidence and feel secure at the barn once more. Having someone who comprehends your ordeal can be incredibly supportive. Consider seeking professional assistance from a therapist who is informed about trauma and familiar with the equestrian world. If you're struggling to cope with the trauma alone, reaching out for help is crucial. Working with a therapist can equip you with coping mechanisms to manage the trauma, process memories, and return to the joy of being with your horse(s) safely. While not obligatory, having a therapist with equestrian experience could enhance the treatment process. Contact Lynn at lynn@riverhavenfarm.ca for more information
